Position Summary: The Director of Membership directs, organizes, and implements all sales and membership retention activities to achieve and exceed budgeted goals. This role will serve as the primary contact for all membership-related inquiries from prospective and current members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversee full sales cycle from prospecting to engagement after the sale, including follow-up activities with internal team and volunteers such as entry of information in database, delivery of membership packets, follow-up communication and correspondence, etc.
- Develop and execute membership retention plan, including communication/contact with members throughout the year, customized promotion of Chamber services, personal visits and collection calls as necessary.
- Coordination of new member orientation to promote member engagement, provide information on how best to access Chamber services and enhance networking among members.
- Achieve budgeted monthly and annual new member and retention revenue goals.
- Develop and implement innovative opportunities and promotions to increase revenue and develop strong relationships with the membership base.
- Lead Chamber membership programs including Ambassadors and Leads group.
- Coordinate and participate in various membership activities including ribbon cuttings, and niche networking events.
- Work closely with Office Manager to ensure accuracy of database and billings.
- Cultivate meaningful relationships with members and share that information with team.
- Maintain knowledge of Chamber goals, objectives, services, programs, events, and member benefits and recommend enhancements.
- Performs other related duties and special projects at the request of the CEO.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; 2 years demonstrated excellence in sales in related field.
- Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills: the ability to work effectively with donors, volunteers, and staff; display superior judgment and diplomatic skills; excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Goal-oriented with an ability to achieve sales of an acceptable number of members per month.
- Experience with CRM platforms.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Enthusiasm, commitment to excellence, self-motivation, a professional demeanor, and is highly organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to apply exceptional judgment and appropriate discretion when performing duties of the position and while representing the organization and leading within the community.
- Ability to multi-task and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- The flexibility to work early mornings or late evenings as needed due to the nature of our events.
- Hold valid driver's license.
